Physiotherapist working with a patient

Q: What is physiotherapy & how can a physiotherapist help me?

Physiotherapy is the study of the science of movement. Physiotherapists focus on both the prevention and rehabilitation of injury using a variety of treatment techniques tailored to your specific needs.

Q: Do I need to see my doctor prior to starting physiotherapy?

A: You do not need to see your doctor prior to starting physiotherapy, however your insurance provider may ask you for a referral from your doctor in order to reimburse your treatments. If at some point your physiotherapist feels the need for additional diagnostic imaging, you may be referred back to your doctor at that time.

Q: How do I get an appointment?

A: The fastest way to schedule an appointment is to call the clinic at 613-830-3145 and one of our receptionists can schedule that for you. Alternatively, you can request an appointment here orleansphysio.janeapp.com

Q: Will my insurance cover the costs?

A: We are covered by most insurance companies but we encourage patients to call your specific insurance provider to better understand your coverage for physiotherapy.

We are not taking patients through WSIB or Motor Vehicle Accident insurance and our clinic is not covered by OHIP.

Q: What can I expect from my first visit?

A: Please refer to our Your visit page for full details https://www.orleansphysio.com/Your-Visit

Q: What should I bring?

A: Because your physiotherapist will likely have you moving around during your appointment, so wearing comfortable clothing is most preferred. An article of clothing that makes it easier for the therapist to see the area they are treating such as shorts or a tank top. If you need to change at the clinic that is also available.

If you have had any imaging done that will be relevant to your treatments, you can either bring in the report or email it to us at info@orleansphysio.com

Q: What treatments are available?

A: Please click on the Services tab at the top of this page for a full list of treatment options.

Q: How often will I need to be treated?

A: Treatments vary from patient to patient, however generally the less severe or more recent the condition, the fewer treatments are required. Your physiotherapist may be able to give you a better idea of duration after your appointment.

Q: How long will each treatment session last?

A: Typical treatment times are approximately 50 minutes-1 hour, however your assessment may take longer to ensure we gather all the necessary information to formulate your treatment plan.
